  • Day 0 - Acclimatization and Virtual Meeting

    You must arrive the day before your reservation to the municipality of Pereira, Santa Rosa de Cabal or Manizales, to acclimatize and have a mandatory virtual meeting with our team.


    This meeting will consist of an information session in which we will verify that you have the appropriate equipment to carry out the activity and in which we will give you a series of recommendations to carry out the trek in Los Nevados de Potosí to Cedral without problems.



    Day 1 - Getting to know the Otún lagoon

    Our adventure begins at 6:00 a.m. in Pereira, Santa Rosa de Cabal or Manizales. From there, we will take a 4x4 truck that will take us to Potosi in a journey of approximately 2.5 hours.


    Once in Potosi we will have a delicious breakfast at a local restaurant and begin our trek at an altitude of 3,900 meters above sea level. During this first tour, we will cross 6 km along a road that leads to the Otún lagoon, after crossing about 3 km more we will choose a place to have our pack lunch.


    After a 9 km downhill walk that takes approximately 3.5 hours, we will arrive at Jordán, a farm located at an altitude of 3,100 meters above sea level, where we will rest and have dinner.



    Day 2 - Descent through the Otún River Canyon

    We will start our second day with a delicious peasant breakfast and a descent crossing the High Andean forest. A place that will give us the opportunity to observe abundant fauna and flora until we reach Cedral.


    After enjoying the great attractions of this tour and arriving at Cedral, we will have a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.



    At the end of our lunch we will have the final reflections of our tour and thanks from the guide, where our vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to the city of Pereira.

  • What physical condition do I need to be in?: To do this trek, you need to be in very good physical condition. If you want to make the most of your trip, you should be able to walk distances of 16 km over several consecutive days. Much of the trek will be at high altitude, so it is recommended to spend a few nights before the trek at altitudes above 2000 meters above sea level, especially if you live at sea level.


    Booking and prepayment: To book this adventure you only have to choose the desired date and reserve with 50% of the total, the other 50% is normally paid one day before the start of the trek at the briefing. For the first and last payment, we accept cash, credit and debit cards.


    Briefing: All briefings are held one day before the trip at your hotel. The meetings last approximately 30 to 45 minutes and we check that you have everything you need, we will answer your questions about the trek and you can additionally pay the remaining 50%.


    Pickup: All pickups are within the city of Pereira or Manizales, but we recommend booking a hotel that is as central as possible and in a good location. If you are staying in an area far from the city center, you will have to pay an additional fee for pickup. Our staff will confirm the pickup time with you one day before the tour.


    Where can I store my main luggage?: During the trip, you can store your main luggage for free in our storage room. You can also safely store any equipment that you will not need for the tour at your hotel. Almost all hotels offer this service.
