The Alcalá Waterfalls are a set of beautiful waterfalls located in the municipality of Alcalá. The place is a natural paradise, with lush vegetation, diverse fauna and spectacular views of the La Vieja River Canyon.

🚐 Meeting and Departure 8:00 AM
Our trip begins in the city of Pereira, the tour leader and the driver will pick you up at 8 AM in a private vehicle that will take us to the municipality of Alcalá on a journey of approximately 1 hour.
🚶♂️ Arrival in Alcalá and Start of the Trek
A few km from the town is the beginning of the trek, after receiving the Guide's recommendations, you will begin to walk towards the La Vieja River canyon where you will be able to appreciate the great landscapes of this incredible place, with technical stops to hydrate and at the same time while the guide will surprise you with his environmental and historical interpretation of this place.
⛰️ Arrival at the Chontaduro waterfall
Our first stop will be at a 50 meter waterfall called Chontaduro which has a 5 meter deep pool. In this place we will take a break, we will have enough time to bathe in the waterfall and continue the trek.
⛰️ Start of the Trek through the La Vieja river canyon
As we continue our trek we will descend the mountain until we reach the La Vieja River where we will walk for a while along a path that continues in the direction of the river, the view is incredible.
🥗 Lunch
In the middle of the trek, we will take a break under the shade of a large tree to have our delicious pack lunch and recharge our batteries to continue.
⛰️ Arrival at Los Micos waterfall
Our second stop will be at a 40 meter waterfall called Los Micos which has a shallow pool, in this place we will take a break, we will have enough time to bathe in the waterfall and continue the trek.
⛰️ Start of the Trek for the return
To return to our starting point, we will take a different path ascending the mountain through open fields which will allow us to appreciate the mountain from another perspective.
🚐 Return to Pereira
At the end of our trek we will have the final reflections of our tour and thanks from the guide, where our vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to Pereira.
- Days before the walk, pay attention to your diet, do not consume alcohol or drugs and do not smoke.
- Carry identification document
- Perform a prior warm-up
- Carry a backpack to avoid carrying items in your hands, always have them available
- Constantly hydrate
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages or hallucinogenic drugs before and during the tour.
- Only ascend or walk as far as the guide suggests, following his instructions at all times.
- Do not extract any plant or animal species from the ecosystem.
- Return all trash to the city.
- Comfortable, quick-drying clothing for walking, avoid cotton and do not wear jeans.
- Footwear with good grip, preferably boots, failing that, sports shoes with good grip, try not to wear them for the first time on the day of the walk.
- A backpack or backpack to pack your things
- 1 Bottle with water of at least 1 Liter.
- Bathing suit to enter the river
- Waterproof jacket or rain poncho
- Cap or hat
- Blocker and repellent
- Change clothes after bathing in the river.
